Traceability is a technical tool that helps every food business monitor the movement of a food during the production, processing and distribution phases so that it can, at any time, effectively recall a batch that is defective or dangerous to public health.

The application of Traceability to a food business makes it possible to monitor the products produced themselves, as well as the company’s procedures, so that in the inevitable event of an error, which may result in a defective or dangerous product for public health, it is possible to capture all the data necessary for the effective recall of the defective batch and the rapid identification of the cause of the problem.

LOOTS was created by a European programme for the needs of EAS Laconia S.A. The European programme ran in 2012-2018 under the scientific supervision of Ioannis Grigoratos & Associates

LOOTS is a comprehensive program for recording olive oil traceability brochures. It is built to work with many producers, many mills and a bottling unit. It includes an internal management environment and an external consumer facing information environment. It is addressed to large olive oil bottling units that want to acquire Electronic Traceability.

The Tracking program can be setup to the needs of the enterprise from the settings environment within the program, and there are user rights. The recording of traceability starts from the producer and harvests the fruit in the field and ends at the final stage of movement to the trader – intermediary. It contains the fields, mills and bottlers, where in an easy-to-use environment you record Traceability.

The system exports Lot Number that is connected to all processing stages. It uses QR Code which can be scanned from the label to the bottle and it will transfer the consumer to the information environment. The consumer using Lot Number in the consumer information environment can get useful information about olive oil they bought. They may even know the producer, the fields from which the olive oil they hold in their hands came from via the use of google maps. The consumer information environment is also translated in English.

The company using Lot Number can search within the management environment and locate all the paperwork that have been recorded and easily check.
